Today, distributors face a range of challenges, from tariffs and supply chain disruptions to rising operational costs. In our latest webinar, we sat down with two industry leaders, Jamie from Kerr Controls and Daniel from SAEZ, to discuss how their businesses adapt to these headwinds and how others can too.
Kerr Controls and SAEZ are leveraging Prokeep to thrive despite disruptions by streamlining communications, optimizing workflows, and meeting customers where they are. In this webinar, they share how proactive engagement and digital tools like Prokeep are helping them navigate industry challenges and drive growth in the current market.
Jamie and Daniel both shared with us the challenges they’re facing this year, including:
This uncertainty can potentially create a financial strain for distributors who aren’t prepared, but both Kerr Controls and SAEZ are taking necessary steps to create a strong customer experience and keep accounts growing despite the challenges. Jamie said it best:
“I think when this is going on, it all comes back to relationships, partnerships, and the level of service... We sell furnaces and heat pumps - they’re all good brands… At the end of the day, what’s really gonna separate us from other distributors is how we service the customer, how we help them with their business… When it’s especially uncertain, people will fall back to who they trust.” - Jamie Hutt Semple, Kerr Controls, VP of Sales and Operations
With new refrigerant regulations, keeping customers informed is key. Kerr Controls and SAEZ use Prokeep to ensure contractors stay ahead.
By proactively sharing updates and resources, distributors can strengthen customer relationships while driving sales.
“What we wanted to do when there was downtime is go after some sales in some simple ways. Like texting, ‘Hey, the sale is about to end,’ or ‘What do you need,’ I find that little message works great, it causes something to happen. And you can send a lot more texts than you can phone calls in a matter of time. In 30 minutes, you can get a lot done.” Jamie told us.
“We’re just able to push really hard. In a month, we were able to sell over 50 pallets of refrigerant which we’ve never done before. It was a great success.” Daniel followed.
With Prokeep’s outbound capabilities, Kerr Controls and SAEZ both saw huge success in driving sales by being proactive, starting conversations with customers, and prompting them to make a purchase—all with just a quick Prokeep message.
“We want to be able to meet customers where they’re at. Whether somebody works behind the desk in an office or if they’re out in the field, we want to make sure we’re accessible and available to them at all times.” Daniel from SAEZ told us.
Jamie followed this by saying, “[When we get a Prokeep Message], it goes straight to the experts, so there’s not an extra layer in between... People are spread all over, but it all goes right to that one number.”
By text-enabling their branch phone number - the same one that customers have always called - teams at SAEZ and Kerr were able to create an easy channel of communication so customers could connect to the right person right away, creating a frictionless customer experience. This is key when customers are already facing inventory delays and hiked prices.
“When we put Prokeep in, one of the things we liked was number 1: if I’m on vacation, it’s okay, somebody can pick that thread up, number 2: you can look back and see there’s the picture of the motor, there’s the picture of the serial number, it’s all recorded. That was big for us.”
Prokeep’s centralized conversation hub not only limited business conversations taking place on employees’ personal cell phones but also ensured that all conversation history was recorded. This way, if someone was out on vacation, another employee could see past messages and easily take care of the customer, making sure they never had to wait for an answer.
"It's helped us bring a lot of business back from customers that might've stopped buying from us a couple of years ago, but we still have their contact information." Daniel told us, "We've been able to really reconnect with people that we have not seen in maybe a year or two."
By simply re-engaging customers, Daniel's team is able to re-open doors and prompt inactive customers to come back, even after years without stopping at the branch. This is a powerful strategy for growing revenue without actively acquiring new customers - which has powerful impacts, especially during challenging years.
Kerr Controls and SAEZ have proven that adaptability, strong relationships, and the right technology still drive success despite the circumstances. By leveraging Prokeep, they’ve streamlined communication, improved customer service, and driven sales by creating their own opportunities.
This proactive approach to driving sales, as well as creating a frictionless experience has allowed them to not just maintain but grow their business and set themselves up for success this year.
